Diocese of Chichester elects representatives to the Crown Nominations Commission
At a recent meeting of the Vacancy in See Committee six people were elected as the Diocesan representatives to the Crown Nominations Commission (CNC). The CNC forms the interview panel for the next bishop, and it is made up of the two Archbishops (or a Diocesan Bishop acting on their behalf) and 6 ‘Central Members’ elected from the General Synod alongside our Diocesan Representatives.
The six people elected are:
- Revd Canon Lisa Barnett, Team Rector of Horsham
- Bob Chambers, lay representative on the General Synod (2024-26), member of St Margaret's, Angmering
- Revd Anita Colpus, Rector of Trinity Lewes
- Michelle Lashley, Early Years Minister at Hailsham Parish Church
- Ven Martin Lloyd-Williams, Archdeacon of Brighton and Lewes
- Bradley Smith, lay representative on the General Synod (2015-26), Churchwarden at Aldingbourne, Barnham and Eastergate
The diocese is commending the following prayer for use at this time:
Almighty God,
We praise you for the abundance of your grace, mercy, and peace, sustaining those who serve you across this diocese.
We thank you for the work of the Vacancy In See Committee, and we pray for the six people elected to serve as members of the Crown Nominations Commission.
We ask that by your Holy Spirit you would give them gifts of wisdom and discernment for the work entrusted to them. We pray that you would continue to form them in the likeness of your Son, with humility, courage, and faithfulness.
May they serve to the glory of your name and the building up of your Church;
through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
