Diocese of Chichester

Mothers' Union in the Diocese of Chichester was created in 1891 and has 40 branches throughout East and West Sussex with over 795 members. We believe in praying with our feet moving, and our prayer with purpose underpins all our activities.

Our Work:

  • Away From It All - holidays for families who wouldn't normally be able to have one
  • Supporting children affected by imprisonment
  • Flourishing Families- helping parents do the most important job in the world
  • Local Hospital Support - Providing handmade emergency admission toiletry bags, premature baby hats and memory bags as well as homemade cakes.
  • Citizenship Welcoming - Providing hospitality and a warm welcome at local Citizenship Ceremonies.
  • Knitting prayer shawls
  • Sending Love at Christmas - Writing and sending cards to local prison inmates and immigration centre detainees. Providing a gift of socks to detainee's immigration centres.
  • Modern day slavery - raising awareness with members and all communities.
  • Maintaining links with our five link dioceses overseas
