Programme Governance
The governance structure for the Diocesan Growth Programme is designed to provide strategic oversight, clear accountability, effective resource management and successful delivery of programme outcomes.
Strategic Programmes Board
Programme oversight is provided by the Strategic Programme Board (SPB) who meet three times a year. The SPB is chaired by the Bishop with the Strategic Portfolio. The role of the SPB is to provides strategic governance, accountability and decision-making for the Diocesan Growth Programme. The SPB acts as the main interface with the National Church, also overseeing delivery of Strategic Development Fund (SDF) projects and the Kindling Network Advisory Board. Membership includes senior diocesan leaders, representation from the national church, and external expertise to bring an independent perspective. Annual reports are provided to SMMIB, Bishop’s Council and Diocesan Synod.
Project Boards
Each funding stream has a Project Board that meets four to six times a year. A serving suffragan Bishop or Archdeacon chairs each Project Board. Project Boards approve parish applications, monitor progress and ensure project delivery. Part of the role is to improve the quality of delivery through learning from projects both within and outside the diocese and to share learning and good news stories. Project Boards report to the SPB and include stream sponsors, project leads and parish representatives.
