Diocese of Chichester

Children, Youth & Family

The heart of the Children, Youth and Families (CYF) funding stream is the desire to see more children and young people come to know the love of Jesus. Where there is CYF work happening in the Diocese, we want to support its growth; where there is the vision and the will to start new work, we want to bless it.

Aim

This stream funds new CYF posts for the 23 Apostolic Partnerships and Revitalisations, new CYF posts for parishes and extensions to existing CYF posts.

We recognise a paid CYF worker is not a ‘quick fix’, but one part of a long-term vision that involves the whole church family. Successful recipients of this grant funding stream will demonstrate a whole-church desire for intergenerational growth, commitment to prayer and a clear mission plan to support their CYF worker well and build a discipleship pathway for young people as a way into church community.

This stream is about helping churches shape lifelong disciples and reflect the communities they serve. The prayerful hope is that our churches become even greater places of joy, belonging and spiritual discovery from generation to generation.

Sharing and celebrating

It is anticipated any parish participating in a CYF grant funding pathways is willing to share their learning and celebration stories with the diocese for the benefit of the wider community.

What can be funded?

New CYF posts to disciple existing children and youth and to create a discipleship pathway for new children and youth from groups/ schools into church life.

Extensions of existing CYF posts to encourage new areas of growth e.g. part-time to full-time to engage with new and existing Children, Youth and Families.

Each project requires PCC support to sustain the CYF work both in prayer and financially beyond the funding window. Please be assured we recognise not all churches are in the same funding position and we will offer an appropriate level of support in discussion with you.
