Eleven new Church of England priests will begin their ministries in the Diocese of Chichester across East and West Sussex this weekend as family, friends and churchgoers celebrate at four special services on Saturday and Sunday at 1430.

The Bishop of Chichester, Dr Martin Warner will be the ordaining bishop at St Andrew’s West Tarring (Saturday); the Bishop of Horsham, Mark Sowerby, will ordain at St Mary’s Horsham (also Saturday) and the Bishop of Lewes, Richard Jackson will ordain at St John’s Meads (Saturday) and All Saints, Hove (Sunday).

All of the candidates have already been ordained a deacon.

As priests, the newly ordained will be able to celebrate the Eucharist and offer God's blessing as their vocation to the priesthood finally comes to fruition.

For many the services will be the culmination of many years of discernment and training and each has a unique story to tell.

  • Jon Haines (All Saints’, Eastbourne)
  • Tim Hiorns (All Saints’, Crowborough)
