The Building Management Portal will be the Church of England’s national digital system for managing applications relating to works on churches, their contents, and churchyards. It will support List A, List B, and Faculty applications. The existing Faculty, List A, and List B processes are not changing. The new portal provides a different digital route for preparing, submitting, reviewing, and managing applications.

The new portal has been designed to make the application process easier to follow and to improve consistency in the way casework is managed. It will give users clearer information about application stages, supporting documents and the actions needed as an application progresses.

You will access the Building Management Portal through the CofE Portal. This provides a secure login route and includes two-factor authentication. If you do not already have a CofE Portal account, you may need to create one before you can use the Building Management Portal.

Some users will also need to complete a one-time registration process. This helps ensure that the system gives you the correct access for your role, church, and diocese. Please only register for the new system once you need to process a case for your church or churches or have active applications which require permissions.

Existing and historic Online Faculty System cases will be migrated into the new portal. If you are involved in an ongoing case, further information will be provided about how this will be handled and what, if anything, you need to do.

Guidance, FAQs, and training links will be shared, and the Diocese can also provide local instructions and support routes.
