Faith in Sussex issue 41 - out now!
This issue of Faith in Sussex offers a hopeful snapshot of church life across our communities, capturing both the faithfulness and the encouraging growth we are seeing today.
In this latest edition, Acting Bishop of Chichester, Bishop Will, offers the thoughtful introduction inviting us to reflect with gratitude on Bishop Martin’s ministry while stepping forward in hope into a new season. That sense of continuity and renewal is echoed throughout the magazine, where stories of mission, service and discipleship bring to life the work of parishes across Sussex.
There is much to encourage. The joyful Maycamp gathering highlights the energy and commitment of young people, while the inspiring Mayfield “Music for Mission” story shows how creativity and outreach can open new doors for faith. Signs of growth are evident too: confirmations are rising, and 112 people have now been commissioned as Authorised Lay Ministers - a remarkable 50% increase on last year, demonstrating a deepening commitment to shared leadership and equipping God’s people for ministry.
Alongside these highlights, the magazine covers a wide range of diocesan life, from eco initiatives and racial justice work to safeguarding, education, global partnerships and parish news. Together, these stories reflect a Church that is listening, learning and responding to the needs of its communities with compassion and confidence.
Faith in Sussex is more than a magazine; it is a testament to God at work among us, encouraging, equipping and inspiring us all to play our part in the life of a growing Church.
