Prayers for all those affected by the Shoreham Beach tragedy
The Diocese of Chichester is deeply saddened by the tragedy yesterday afternoon on Kingston Beach Shoreham-by-Sea, in which three people have died, and one young person critically injured in hospital.
Our hearts are with their families, their friends and their communities at this unimaginable time. We give thanks for the swift and courageous work of all the emergency services who responded, and we hold them, the family and all those affected in our prayers.
All our churches in the area will be holding prayers. Revd Jane Bartlett, vicar at the Church of the Good Shepherd on Shoreham Beach issued words of condolence, saying, it will be open all day for anyone affected by the tragic news.
She added, it will be a quiet place to reflect and send prayers for the deceased and the recovery of the surviving young girl. St Mary's church in the town centre will also be open for prayers.
There will be a service of prayers and reflection in St Julian’s church on Sunday 23rd August from 2.30pm to 3.30pm led by the Reverend Erika Howard. The beach is in the parish of Kingston Buci. St Julian’s church is open daily from 10.30 to 4pm for private prayer and peaceful reflection as is St Mary De Haura and Church of the Good Shepherd on Shoreham Beach.
