The recently consecrated bishops of Horsham [Ruth Bushyager] and Lewes [Will Hazelwood] will be formally installed in Chichester Cathedral at two special services this month (Sunday 13 September).

There will be two services, one for each bishop, because Covid restrictions limit the number of people who can attend. Both bishops will attend each other’s installation.

Bishop Will to be installed at 2pm, and Bishop Ruth at 3.30pm.

At each service the new bishop will be supported by the presence of family and friends, and others (including the Diocese as a whole) will be able to follow the celebrations via a LIVE streaming on the Sunday afternoon.

Bishop Martin said today: “The installation of bishops Ruth and Will is going to mark their incorporation into the life of the diocese and we welcome them with a great sense of confidence and hope. This is the very best welcome we can give them and their families in the present circumstances and it’s great that the installations will be streamed, enabling many others to join us on-line.”

Together with Bishop Martin, the new bishops will launch their ministry in the diocese by ordaining new deacons and priests individually in churches across the whole of Sussex.
