The church of St. John the Evangelist, Crowborough, East Sussex, wishes to appoint an organist. The church has a fine Nicholson pipe organ (renovated in 2006 and regularly maintained). St. John’s is a dynamic and growing Anglo-Catholic church and has wide appeal to all ages. There is a capable RSCM affiliated adult SATB choir, with plan to grow the children’s choir under the direction of a specialist choral Music Director (in post).There is a Sung Mass every Sunday morning, two choir practices per month, plus extra services during the year as required. It would be ideal for applicants to be able to deputise for the Music Director if required. St. John’s Church is currently exploring a closer relationship with Christ Church, Fairwarp. There could be an opportunity for additional regular work should that be of interest. Remuneration negotiable within the RSCMscale commensurate with experience and scope of role.
