New Director for Apostolic Life appointed
Bishop Martin has appointed Jude Davis as the new Director for Apostolic Life.
Bishop Martin said: “We are very fortunate indeed to have recruited Jude Davis to lead the Apostolic Life team.
“Jude brings experience of priestly ministry and parish life. She understands the value of what is deeply ingrained in our Christian life and identity, while being open to apostolic outreach that blends the inherited with innovative opportunities. Her work with the Church Army indicates commitment to the lay apostolate, as we see it taking shape in Focal Ministry.
"The Apostolic Life department maps out how Jesus Christ is made active and visible in our household life: please pray for Jude and her colleagues as she continues to develop the work of this team.”
Reflecting on her new appointment, Jude said: "It’s a great pleasure to follow in the footsteps of Revd Canon Rebecca Swyer who did so much to encourage and nurture the whole people of God in their Christian discipleship. Revd Canon Rebecca Swyer formed the deacons and priests of the Diocese of Chichester to the highest possible standard and I have enjoyed meeting many of them since I moved to the Diocese last year.
"I look forward to meeting many more people considering their vocation and discipleship over the coming months, and am particularly looking forward to working with the Apostolic Life team."
Jude grew up in Yorkshire before being formed for ministry in Cambridge. She served in churches in Yorkshire and Derbyshire before taking on a national role with the Church Army.
Jude will take up her role as Director for Apostolic Life working 3.5 days per week from 20th April.
