- As part of the Staff Team you will proactively support the church in ensuring that we utilise the resources that God has given to us to maximum effect to implement our vision.
- Working with staff and volunteers you will support and implement strategies which provide operational strength for all church activities.
- You will ensure the delivery of key aspects of the church’s work, taking a hands-on role as necessary.

- Based in the church office, you will be the first port of call for enquiries and visitors, dealing with communications and in person visits as necessary.

- To contribute to the spiritual life of St Pancras Church by ensuring that services of worship and other events are organised to support the church’s mission effectively.
- Maintenance of rotas, including Intercessors, Readers, Welcome Team, Refreshments Team and Lay Minister of Communion and proactively find new volunteers when needed
- Ensure provisions such as bread, wine, candles and coffee/tea are maintained
- Work with staff and other leaders to organise and deliver events and activities in the life of the church
- Giving Administrative support to the various activities and events put on by St Pancras as required.
- To help share the good news of God’s salvation through Jesus Christ to everyone, particularly the most vulnerable, by ensuring that policies and procedures for preventing abuse from happening, and responding well where it has, are implemented with the utmost seriousness.

- Handling staff and volunteers’ DBS checks and ensuring they are up to date
- To ensure all volunteers have undertaken required on-line training
- Maintaining up to date records and sending out reminders when required.
- To ensure that St Pancras Church conducts all its business in keeping with its Christian principles, meets all its legal and statutory obligations and uses its buildings to maximum effect.
- To give admin support to the Rector and senior staff in their ministry and leadership as required.
- To be a point of contact for the general public, including processing enquiries and applications for occasional offices in conjunction with responsible clergy (banns of marriage, funerals, weddings, baptisms)
- To manage the annual schedule of safety certificates (gas, fire, PAT testing etc.) of all church owned/leased buildings and ensure records are kept and communicated.
- To manage utilities and bills of all church owned/leased buildings
- To ensure the buildings are well maintained and well used for the wider mission of the church, including getting quotes, booking contractors and ensuring access is given when they arrive.
- To work closely with the treasurer to ensure the effective financial management of the Church finances and necessary record keeping
- To ensure all diocesan returns and documents are dealt with efficiently.
- To ensure documents and papers are prepared and sent out to the correct people in good time for meetings, including PCC and the APCM and records of those meetings are handled correctly
- To ensure the church and church office supplies, licenses and equipment are maintained
- Managing of room bookings and growing the user base.

Church Administrator
The Parochial Church Council of St Pancras with St John in Chichester are looking for an enthusiastic and competent administrator to join their team and support the operations, mission and ministry at St Pancras Church, Chichester.

Hours: 12 hours per week (split over 3 or 4 days) based in the church office
Salary: £25,000-£27,000 pro rata (based on 37.5 hour week) depending on experience.

The Church Administrator will be part of the Staff Team and accountable to the PCC as his or her employer. Day to day reporting is through the Rector to whom you will be responsible for delivering integrated operations at St Pancras Church.

Genuine Occupational Requirement
In accordance with the Equality Act 2010 it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the Church Administrator is a practising Christian1. He or she will be part of the Staff Team at St Pancras Church, contributing to the spiritual life and witness of the church, offering a Christian witness to visitors and representing the Rector and PCC in relation to external affairs. This matter will form part of the discussion at interview.
