    The Diocese of Chichester is seeking a lay or ordained Bishop’s Liaison Officer for the LGBTQIA+ community.

    The post holder will articulate and advocate for the pastoral needs of the LGBTQIA+community, including those who identify as same-sex attracted across the Diocese. They will represent the church in this community, build bridges and enable pastoral support. This is a pastoral position, not a campaigning role, which exists to assist the Bishop’s desire and responsibility to offer a pastoral presence and a place of inclusion for all.

    We are seeking a postholder who has:

    • Knowledge and understanding of the Church of England and ability to engage across traditions
    • A prayerful and non-judgmental approach
    • Strong confidentiality, interpersonal sensitivity, and safeguarding awareness
    • Experience navigating conflict or facilitating safe spaces
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Empathy, self‑motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively
    • Effective administration and networking abilities
    • Experience of working with volunteers

    What we offer:

    • This is a part time role, equating to 1 day per week, the time to be worked flexibly across the week.
    • It can be offered as a standalone 0.2 FTE employed post or be carried out within an existing parish role (i.e. a full time incumbent/priest in charge would not need to be separately employed).
    • If offered as an employed role the salary is £7,547 per annum (FTE £37,737pa)
    • This role is open to both lay and ordained candidates
