Bishop to preside and preach as diocese gathers for Holy Week
Bishop Martin will preside and preach at the Diocesan Chrism Eucharist at Chichester Cathedral on Wednesday, April 1st (12 Noon).
The Chrism Eucharist brings together the clergy and laity of the diocese. The clergy renew their ordination vows before the Bishop and the Oils of the sick, of baptism and of chrism are blessed.
At the end of the service, the oils are distributed for use in parishes across the Diocese.
The service is an annual opportunity for the diocese to gather as Holy Week gains momentum, following as it does the events of Jesus' final days before his crucifixion and resurrection.
Bishop Martin has announced his intention to retire as Bishop of Chichester at the end of May giving this year's celebration added poignancy.
