Pilot launch of the Bishop’s Certificate – January 2026
The Diocese of Chichester is delighted to announce the pilot launch of the Bishop’s Certificate, a new 20-week course, beginning in January 2026 across multiple locations.
This new 20-week course offers lay people a unique opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Christian faith and explore new dimensions of discipleship and lay ministry.
Whether participants are discerning a call to licensed lay ministry or simply seeking to grow in their spiritual journey, the Bishop’s Certificate is designed to inspire, equip, and support them through accessible theological learning and community engagement.
The course is open to anyone in the diocese with a desire to grow in faith and service. No prior theological training is required — just a willingness to learn and participate. Successful completion of the Certificate also allows participants to apply for the Authorised Lay Ministry (ALM) preaching elective, subject to the usual conditions.
