New Assistant Diocesan Director of Ordinands Appointed
We’re pleased to announce the appointment of the Revd Jamie Gater as the new Deputy Diocesan Director of Ordinands. Jamie will work in this 0.5 role alongside the Revd Giles Carpenter, Diocesan Director of Vocations, to support his oversight for those exploring a call to ordained ministry.
Jamie will continue in his role as Parish Priest of the parish of Forest Row. He and Giles already have experience of working together as part of the Apostolic Life Team, which provides a strong foundation for their partnership in this new area of ministry for Jamie. Together, they will work closely with parish clergy and the wider diocesan vocations team to foster vocations and to work with the growing numbers of individuals coming forward to explore ordained ministry.
Giles said: “Jamie’s appointment is good news for our vocation work. We have already enjoyed working collaboratively as part of the Apostolic Life team and Jamie’s parish experience and passion for fostering vocations in that context, will be a real asset as we walk with those discerning their calling.”
Jamie said: “It’s a privilege to be invited into this role. I look forward to working with Giles again and to supporting those who are beginning to explore ordained ministry.”
Jamie will begin in this role on 22nd September. His normal Deputy DDO days will be Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and he can be contacted at Jamie.gater@chichester.anglican.org
