Celebrating Exam Success
Over the past couple of weeks, Church of England secondary schools across the Diocese of Chichester have been celebrating the achievements of their pupils as this year’s exam results have been released.
Over the past couple of weeks, Church of England secondary across the Diocese of Chichester have been celebrating the achievements of their pupils as this year’s exam results have been released. There have been many successes for pupils at both A-Level and GCSE. Ark Alexandra has this year seen a 13% increase in pupils passing both English and Maths at GCSE, with 78% of pupils at Davison CE High School for Girls achieving standard passes (grades 9- 4) in both English and Maths. Students at Steyning Grammar School have achieved the schools best ever set of results, whilst demonstrating great resilience, commitment, and determination during their time at the school. Students achieved excellent results in core subjects; English, Maths and Science and did exceptionally well in art, PE, RE, and photography alongside.
Head of Sixth Form at Bishop Luffa, Jamie Saunders said: ‘Students received the rewards that they deserved for their hard work. Behind each result there are examples of sacrifice and resilience from the young people involved and their families. We wish them well for the next chapter of their lives.’
Students that completed their A Levels have also seen success with many students moving on to prestigious universities.
Lesley Hurst, Director of Education for the Diocese, said “we are extremely proud of all those students within Church of England secondary schools that received exam results in the past two weeks. These students have shown immense determination having started secondary in the pandemic years and they have achieved excellent outcomes. Our thanks go to the school staff who have supported them, cared for them, and ensured that they were as prepared as possible to enter into the exam period with confidence and grace.”
