    Internal applications are invited for the role of Mission and Pastoral Reorganisation Officer (0.6 role). This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Church Buildings team to build and sustain positive relationships with the parties and stakeholders involved in the pastoral reorganisation process.

    Working with the Church Buildings team you will take forward proposals for pastoral reorganisation, provide administrative support to the Diocesan Mission and Pastoral Sub-committees (DMPC) and provide guidance, advice and support to the parishes, Archdeacons and DMPC about the pastoral reorganisation process.

    The principal duties include:

    • Providing committee and administrative support for DMPC meetings.
    • Drafting and publishing pastoral reorganisation proposals.
    • Providing support and advice to parties and stakeholders involved in the pastoral reorganisation process.
    • Monitoring interim appointments and suspensions of presentation.
    • Preparing updates on closed churches for the DMPC.

    Our ideal candidate will be and offer:

    • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience. A qualification and/or training in the law would be a bonus.
    • An understanding of the parochial system and structure in the Church of England.
    • Experience of committee administration and excellent administrative skills.
    • The ability to understand and interpret secular and ecclesiastical legislation.
    • Be a strong team player who can work collaboratively with stakeholders and colleagues.

    What we offer:

    • A salary of £23,100 per annum (pro-rata FTE £38,500) for 21 hours per week.
    • Enrolment into the Diocesan Pension Scheme with a 15.1% employer contribution
    • A 0.6 pro-rata entitlement to 28 days of annual leave, plus bank holidays and an additional 2 privilege days leave per year

    • The role is based at Church House, Hove with the opportunity to apply to use the DBF’s remote working policy to work from home for part of the week.
