A Way of Living day at the Palace

The Bishop of Chichester and the Chichester Cathedral Community Committee have collaborated to host a special day for people wishing to explore a rule of life, a resource launched by Bishop Martin as part of the Year of Vocations.

The day is to be hosted at the Bishop's Palace and will cover four sessions from IHS – A Way of Living resource. The sessions will cover prayer, concern for others, the way we live and sharing the good news.

At the launch of the project last year during Advent, Bishop Martin said: “The first Christians were known as the followers of the way – and it’s the way we live our Christian lives that’s absolutely crucial – not least in drawing others to the faith.

‘IHS A Way of Living is a project that ends up as a Rule of Life. It is your plan for how you live as a Christian. Like a diet or a fitness plan, it has to be suited to your needs and situation. Its outcome is a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ and with God who made us and loves us.

‘This resource invites you to use four seasons of the Christian year (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter), and the time that follows Pentecost Sunday, to guide how you feel God is asking you to live your life as a Christian. It will help you put in place some regular habits – your own rules – for doing that.’

Richard Ashby, Chair of the Chichester Cathedral Community Committee said: “We are delighted that Bishop Martin has offered us the use of this special venue which will set the scene for us.

“The day will be an opportunity to explore more deeply how we might like to use the project in our own lives. This day is for those who may want to find a more systematic way of applying their faith to their daily lives of prayer, worship, community and mission.

“The day will consist of short addresses with plenty of time for discussion, reflection and prayer and an opportunity to share your thoughts with others on the same journey.”

The event takes place in The Sherbourne Room, Bishop’s Palace, Chichester on Saturday 4th May 2019
