Coverage of the largest survey to date of the extent of the Church of England's service to communities. Data from 13,000 churches shows Church of England congregations run or support more than 33,000 social action projects. Nearly 8,000 churches, or 60%, are involved in either running or supporting food banks by providing venues, donations and volunteers.

If you want to know your neighbourhood, contact Diane Watts, Together in Sussex co-ordinator. Diane is able to help parishes in the Diocese of Chichester find out what the needs are in their local community.

Faith in action:  St Michael and Angels Brighton run a Saturday morning breakfast for the local community, homeless and vulnerably housed.
