This year, the Royal Air Force will be celebrating its 100th birthday with a special service at Lancing College Chapel on 14th July 2018.
The Air Training Corps will reflect on the RAF’s history and achievements; celebrate the work the RAF is currently doing and look forward to the next 100 years!
The local RAF AIR CADET’S Squadron’s of Brighton, Hove, Shoreham and Lancing will come together for the service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving.
The Lord Bishop of Chichester will preside at the service.
The centenary itself will also be marked by other special events, activities and initiatives at local, regional and national levels through to the end of November 2018.
The Revd Andy Birks, Vicar at St Andrew's Portslade, is the Padre organising the event. He said: "On behalf of the RAF AIR CADET’S I'd like to invite you to the service at Lancing College Chapel as our guest, to recognise the vital role the RAF play in defending our country, but also the work of the RAF AIR CADET’S, sponsored by the RAF. This is a ticket only event, but tickets are free. Please make sure you bring your ticket with you! There is no allocation of specific seating. For tickets please contact me, the Padre - Fr Andrew Birks - on 01273 418090 or firstname.lastname@example.org
"There is obviously a cost to hosting this event and therefore there will be a collection to raise money for the Friends of Lancing College Chapel and RAFA - The Royal Air Force Association.
"This event will not be able to go ahead without the support of so many, we have a number of roles available at the service - from car park marshals to stewards in the chapel, to helping with the refreshments. If you think that you are able to support the event as a volunteer, please contact me on the numbers above."
