Bishop Richard has announced the appointment of a new Warden of Lay Ministry.
“I am delighted to be able to announce the new Warden of Lay Ministry is Peter Mansell.
"Peter will bring considerable theological resources and workplace experience to the exciting new role of Diocesan Warden of Lay Ministry within the Apostolic Life team.
"His appointment comes at a crucial time as we develop more authorised lay ministries within the framework of the vocation of the whole people of God.”
Peter, who worships at St. Augustines, Scaynes Hill, became a Christian in his teens and an Anglican in his thirties when he and Carolyn moved to Mid-Sussex.
Following qualification as an actuary, Peter had a thirty-year career in general management in the insurance industry where he developed his interests in the theory and practice of leadership, strategic planning and marketing.
More recently, Peter has spent ten years in academia studying theology and ethics, culminating in the award of a PhD for his thesis on the Acts of the Apostles. He is now working on converting his thesis into a book, to be published in 2019. The development of lay ministry is a crucial part of both the diocesan and national strategy.
