Exploration Days for the Year of Vocation:

Called to Prayer: 10 am - 3 pm, 9 February 2019, Crawley Down Monastery

This is a day aimed at people exploring a deeper life of prayer in the context of exploring a calling to ordained ministry in the Diocese. Any form of Christian ministry needs to be founded upon a life of prayer. But how do we do this in practice – and what are the pitfalls?

This workshop hopes to answer these important questions. Note that, due to available space at the monastery, this event is limited to 20 people.

Called to Preaching: 10 am - 4 pm, 1 June 2019, All Saints’ Eastbourne

This day seeks to bring a biblical foundation and contours to the ministry of preaching the good news of Jesus Christ, a panel discussion with preachers (ordained and lay), and opportunities to ponder how preaching finds its role within the ordained ministry of the Church of England as well as authorized lay ministries.

Called to Social Action: 10 am - 4 pm, 7 September 2019, All Saints’ Hove Do you feel angry with the injustices that you see in your community and society, and feel God calling you to make a difference? In this Exploration Day, we are delighted to welcome the Chief Executive of the Church Army, Mark Russell, and the Rev Dr Simon Cuff (St Mellitus College, London) they explore how we as churches can listen to the needs of our communities and speak and act prophetically.

Called to the Sacraments: 10 am-4 pm, 5 October 2019, St Paul’s Brighton

This Exploration Day seeks to help people understand how the sacraments are at the heart of the Christian life and how they resource mission and evangelism in the Church today. Time will also be given to those who feel called to be ministers of the Sacraments in the ordained ministry of the Church of England.
