The Right Reverend Richard Jackson was ordained Bishop of Lewes at Westminster Abbey in May 2014.
The Bishop of Lewes has pastoral responsibility for the Anglican Churches of East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and one parish in Kent.
Originally from London, Richard studied at Oxford and trained for the ministry at Trinity College, Bristol.
Richard has a scientific background particularly agriculture science. Before becoming a priest he worked as an agricultural consultant advising farmers across a range of issues.
Richard served his curacy in the Parish of Lindfield from 1994. He became Vicar of Rudgwick in 1998 and then was Rural Dean of Horsham from 2005 before taking up the role of Mission & Renewal Adviser and Leader of the Church Growth Team within the Diocese in 2009.
