  • Priest-in-Charge of Moulsecoomb

Type: Clergy By: Diocese of Chichester When: 6 November 2017

    Deanery of Brighton

The Bishop of Chichester is seeking to appoint a missional priest to love this needy parish into life.

    • Population of the parish is just over 15,000
    • It is currently made up of three churches in a single parish, one of which has been scarcely used but is now ready for a missional relaunch.
    • Sussex university is in the parish and many students live here although none attend the churches
    • The Amex (home to Brighton & Hove Albion) is on the edge of the parish
    • It ranks 716 out of 12,599 in the list of most deprived in the country.
    • Worshipping tradition is Anglo-Catholic.
    • Congregation numbers around 40 on a Sunday at St Andrews and 40 at St Mary Magdalen.

After consulting with the PCC and with the Church Army, there is now the exciting possibility of establishing a Centre for Mission in this benefice. Following the appointment of the priest-in-charge, we are developing a proposal to appoint two Church army officers who will form a new team to seek the renewal of apostolic life in the parish.

We are praying for a down-to-earth, passionate priest to lead the parish into this next chapter.
