Hundreds of people from churches across the Diocese packed out Chichester Cathedral on Sunday 20 May for the Pentecost Thy Kingdom Come Beacon event festival to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.
After a welcome from the Dean, Stephen Waine, and an introduction from Revd Martin Poole, there was a procession of the fifty candles, gathered from Bishop Richard's prayer pilgrimage across the Diocese, setting the scene for an event that did not disappoint.
Worship was led by the Bishop of Lewes, Richard Jackson and the Archdeacon of Horsham, Fiona Windsor. Readings were spoken in different languages and great music was provided by Stuart Barbour and the team at the Point church in Burgess Hill.
Thanks to Revd Martin Poole, from St Luke's Brighton for a fabulous Holy Spirit display, and to Rachel Morris for a vivid prayer space, depicting the journey from Creation to Pentecost, that welcomed hundreds of cathedral visitors in the days leading up to the Beacon event.
