Churches across the diocese celebrated Epiphany on Sunday 7th January.
Churches from Saldean to St Swithun's in East Grinstead, took to social media to announce their service times and to share photos from their services during which they creatively retold the story of the three Kings (the Three Wise Men) who arrived to meet the baby Jesus after following a bright star to Bethlehem where they handed over their gifts of gold (to symbolise his royal standing), frankincense (to symbolise his divine birth) and myrrh (to symbolise his mortality).
St Swithun's in East Grinstead served up a gold topped chocolate with crowns of the three kings. In St Denys’ Rotherfield there was a puppet show by Puppet Tree held for the family service.Puppet Tree was formed in 2004 and has been performing regularly at the Family Services at St Denys on the first Sunday of each month ever since. St Paul's in Brighton held a Epiphany Carol service and in St Nicholas in Saltdean held an Epiphany Festival at which was a blessing of the chalk.
