It's been a busy year for Jessica Reid, shortly to start work as the new Curate of St Nicholas Church in Brighton.
"It's been a year of unbelievable change," says Jessica in a new video interview broadcast today on the Chichester Diocesan You Tube channel.
Earlier this year, Jessica married her partner Angus and, next month, her journey to ordination will be realised when she is made a deacon in the Church of England. What's more, husband Angus is also a candidate for Church of England ministry and he is expected to start work as a Curate in the region next year.
"I am so fortunate to have had people to help me on this journey," she says in the film in which she also reveals how her baptism, aged 17, was the catalyst to her vocation then flourishing.
At the end of the film, Jessica reads a special prayer aimed at encouraging more vocations to the Church of England.
Jessica is one of a group of 12 men and women being ordained at a special service in Chichester Cathedral by the Bishop of Chichester, Dr Martin Warner, on Saturday 1 July (3:00pm). She will be supported by Angus, her wider family, friends, and members of St Nicholas Church.
Candidates are ordained as deacons for their first year and, usually, ordained as priests a year later. The full interview can be heard here: https://youtu.be/P3q2YSaNcbo
