Intimate Jesus: The Sexuality of God Incarnate
Sunday 25 June 2017 2.30 – 4.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Burgess Hill.
Sex, sexuality and Christian faith can throw up some difficult questions. Many of us have struggled with areas of our sexuality and sex lives as we have tried to live faithfully as followers of Jesus. Using the gospel of John, particularly the story of Jesus and the woman at the well, this session explores how Jesus lived out his own sexuality.
Intimate Jesus: Greek Love and Christian Intimacy
Sunday 9 July 2017 2.30 – 4.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Burgess Hill
Many Christians are struggling with questions around the traditional teaching of the church and homosexuality. This session outlines what Paul and Jesus did and did not say on the subject, and explores how the gospel of John engages more deeply with homoeroticism in contemporary culture to reflect not simply on sexuality but friendship, Christian intimacy and love between men
Intimate Jesus: Was Jesus Married?
Sunday 23 July 2017 2.30 – 4.30pm at St Andrew’s Church, Burgess Hill
In recent years, there has been public discussion over whether Jesus was married, whether there are any ancient documents that prove he was and whether the churches have tried to suppress the facts. This session explains what the ancient documents are and what they say. Using the gospel of John, it explores whether Jesus ever had a relationship Mary Magdalene or any other woman.
